Seora - Timeline of the important events in the book

p.100 In this part, the man and the boy are having a little argument whether they will survive or not. The boy thinks that they might die and that the man will lie to him about dying, and the man admits that he might. But he tells him that it takes a long time for a man to fall over dead and they can live long without food, because they still have water. I was really touched by this part because it made me think of my dad. I know that he loves me the most(next to my mom^^), and he wants me to believe that there still is hope.
p.105 They find a grand house and at the first sight of it, the boy became scared and tells his father not to go in. However the man became curious and told the boy that it will be okay. But we all know that the real purpose of the man was to find food for himself and for the boy because they were starving for a long time. The man took out his pistol and they went in. Mostly everything was burnt and a great hep of clothing was about it. They went to the kitchen, and found a door in the floor and the man thought that there is a reason that only this is locked. When they opened it, they found naked people trying to hide from the light and there was even a man with his legs gone to the hip and the stumps of them blackened and burnt lying on the mattress. The man bursted out "Christ". They started running and when they were hiding from those four men and two women, the man takes the boy's hand and gives him the revolver. He wanted him to kill himself when any of them found him. However, he changed his mind about leaving the boy and leading them away because he decided that he couldn't leave the boy alone. While I was reading this part, I couldn't believe my eyes. I read the same part over and over again. I was so terrified at the moment just like the boy(only I know that the boy would have been much more scared than I was because he was in the situation). I could also feel the love that the man felt toward his boy. He would rather want the boy to commit a suicide than to get killed by the "bad guys".
p.117 The man and the boy finds a house and a barn and the man goes there himself while the boy is sleeping, leaving the revolver with his son for protection. Inside here, he finds many useful things. First, he found a grape flavored powder to make drinks with. Second, he found some tools such as new blades and screwdriver. But the best of all were apples and water. He filled his pockets full of apples and drank almost the whole jar of water. He came back there with the boy again and ate and drank as much as they can. I really, truly admire the man's courage of going inside the house after what has happened to them. I still know that my dad and my mom would have done the same for me if we were in the same situation as they are. I was also very glad that they got to find something to eat and drink because they were beginning to lose hope also.
p.129 The man starts to believe that this is the moment of death. After eating apples and drinking water, it began to rain and they were freezing, and another long days of starvation continued.
p.132 They found another house and goes in it. The man finds a can of gasoline. It was perfect because they had just lost their lighter. The boy was terrified at the moment because of the memory of those bad guys that eat human. But again, the man convinces him that it is okay and this is what good guys do : keep on trying, and never give up. When the man goes inside the bunker, he finds heaven. The place was filled with crate upon carte of canned goods, and with all kinds of flavors. The man and the boy doesn't believe their luck. The boy wonders if it is okay if they ate it because it was someone else's food and they didn't get to use it because they died, so before their breakfast the next day, the boy gives a thank you pray to the people who left foods. There, they finally get to take a warm bath, not from the cold rain. However, even the place is perfect for them, they both know that they couldn't stay there too long, because it's too dangerous. They took some food and started off to the road. I was curious. I know they couldn't have stayed there forever, and they had to head to the south, but they could have stayed there just a bit longer. ㅠㅠ Ah, also!! I keep noticing that the man is sick all along the way, and I know what's going to happen to the man in the end (thanks to Joanne^^), so I feel sorry for him. I'm glad that they could feel their own kind of heaven for at least just a bit. It was really cute of the boy and we could really see how innocent he is when he gave an thank you pray to "Dear people" who left them food.
I think that many will agree with me that this part was the most interesting and exciting part of the book. I am really curious of what will happen in the next part. Bye see you tomorrow!^^

  2. Great Job writing the timeline! It was extremely long so I had to spend a long time reading it ㅜㅜ However, It was really good! I actually envy that you could write out this much really well. Each quotes were connected well. I felt that they time line focused on the man and the boy's trail to find the survival food! I think it is an extremely important topic of this part! Really, Great JOB!><><><

  3. I really agree with you, they could have stayed there just a little bit longer. I wish they could have eaten more 'good food', and been more comfortable. They really deserve it. The man really could care more about his health. I feel sorry for the man, too. So far, this part was the most exciting.

Well, yeah, I fairly much agreed with your idea. I also remember those events as a most standing out ones...

  5. It was such a nice and neat and cool timeline for this part of the novel. You just pointed out the most important and exciting scenes.

My favorite part was when the man and the boy got into the grand house and found the hatch. I thought there would be plenty of hidden food-well, there were actually some foods-but there was something else than merely food. Running out, the man gives his son pistol in case of getting caught. Uh,, yeah, at this time, I thought the man is kind of selfish in that he's leaving the boy alone. Even though I know he behaved like that to protect his son, I do not think it was the best thing he could choose.

  6. I like how you added your reactions to the events as you summarized them. The personal touch will help you remember them a little better.
