Timeline for The Road(p.100~150)

The story starts with the boy asking his father, "You think we are going to die, don't you?" The boy himself thinks that they are going to die because of a long term starvation. Actually, it has been a long time since the father and the boy ate something, and because of this, they again set out to the road. When they walk out to the road and stand, the man suddenly realizes that there is a kind of track on the road covered by the snow. After hesitating whether to go or not, the man decides to keep going.
As they are walking along the road, the man and the boy find a once grand house, which has a still big garden, living room, kitchen and bedrooms. Even the decoration is beautiful. The man, who really likes to take a look, dares to go in and explores the house in order to get any kind of food, while his son is so afraid of the existence of the house itself. Scanning the house, the father steps on a hatch door situated on the floor of a room. He believes that there would be something important under there, like something to eat, and wants to open it. He gets a blade, begins working on the door and finally opens the door. Our curious man goes in and tells the boy to bring his pistol in case of getting caught by anybody. (The father does not want his son to die as a result of being eaten.) Under the door were a lot of naked people glancing them. They were the food. Even there was a man whose legs are all gone, or already eaten. "Christ," the man said. Astonished, he and the boy run, run, run. Later, they get into the forest and hear a awful shriek from the house.
The man and the boy staggers in the forest and gets to another house. Since the child does not have any strength move more, his father allows him to sleep in the forest with the gun for protection. There is trash all over the house. What he can only find in there is a can of old oil and gasoline. There’s another door on a floor. But under there, there are no people to be eaten, but clear and transparent water which smelled very delicious and sweet. After drinking a big handful of water, the man saves some in jars. In addition, walking along the orchard, he feels something bulky under his feet.(There are so many things under his feet. Now it does not make me feel dangerous.) It is an apple. He finds some more, and gives some to his son.
Later they, once again, step on a door in the middle of a garden. The man breaks the lock, which looks really similar to the other door that kept human food. This time, instead of human food, there are many stacks of real canned food. They decide to stay there for two or three days.

  1. I have a question.
    When you said,
" Our curious man goes in and tells the boy to bring his pistol in case of getting caught by anybody. (The father does not want his son to die as a result of being eaten.) "
Didn't he give the pistol to his son after they took off?? When they were hiding from those people, the man gives his son the pistol so that when somebody finds him, he should put it in his mouth and fire it. (I don't know what I'm talking about --;;)
Besides this, I think you wrote it very neatly.

  2. Every time I read your postings, I realize that your point of view is very different from mine. Especially when you said, "while his son is so afraid of the existence of the house itself." I only thought that he was afraid, since it was just some kind of feeling in his gut.
I think you did a great job over all-it seems like you neatly caught the important parts. It helped me with understanding the over-all story. Thank you:D

  4. I think you did write really well! I mean when I read your work I felt that the storyline kinds of made sense. I couldn't actually imagine how the house looked and I was confused but with what you have wrote, I was able to understand much better. Thanks for sharing ㅎㅎ

  5. You did a pretty good job with the first half of the section, but I felt like the second half is less detailed...

  6. Really easy to understand the storyline! If there was a person who didn't read the book, that person might be very pleased to read this since he/she wouldn't need to read the book~ :) Great job :D
